Her debut as an actor was I Am Sam (2001) which was a dramatic film in which she played the younger version Dakota Fanning. She acted in several films as an actor in the younger age group, such as Babel (2006) and the Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008 and Phoebe in Wonderland (8). It was the Critics Choice Movie Awards nominated her as the Best Young Actress in 2010 for Sofia Coppola's Somewhere. In 2011, her role on Super 8 as the main role earned an award called the Spotlight Award for the Hollywood festival of thrillers. After playing the titular character of We Bought a Zoo and Ginger & Rosa, she also played Princess Aurora as well in Maleficent and Maleficent: The Mistress Of Evil.
